Google launches Google Click-to-Call service

Posted in Uncategorized by extrafox on November 23, 2005

The day after I scoured Google for the latest and greatest features and tools, they launch a new service; Google Click-to-Call [Google FAQ][via Digg].

Here’s how it works: When you click the phone icon, you can enter your phone number. Once you click ‘Connect For Free,’ Google calls the number you provided. When you pick up, you hear ringing on the other end as Google connects you to the other party [Google FAQ].

This is an amazing idea. It benefits everyone involved…

The Consumer
The consumer wins because if they chose to click on the icon, then they were interested in the product. This bridges the gap for them and connects them directly through the phone as opposed to the web

The Advertiser
Getting the consumer on the phone is much better than just transferring them to a web page. With this service, the advertiser directly sees the value of their ad dollar and it is put to good work

Google probably charges a premium for this for of advertising. But, even if they don’t, this make the Google adds more valuable in both the consumer and advertiser’s eyes. I definite bonus for Google

A very cool idea. I will have to give it a try soon.
